As a teaching hospital, VA New Jersey Health Care System provides a full range of services, with state-of-the-art technology as well as education and research.
Academic Partners
The VA New Jersey Health Care System is primarily affiliated with the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey — New Jersey Medical School* and Robert Wood Johnson Medical School.* Last year, over 260 medical students from the Medical Schools rotated through major medical and surgical specialties and subspecialties at the VA New Jersey Health Care System for their clinical experience. We have 24 funded positions in Dental, Occupational Therapy, Optometry, Podiatry, Psychology, and Social Work, and over 350 nonfunded students in Audiology and Speech Pathology, Biomedical Engineering, Dental Hygienists, Health Care Administration, Health Information Management, Medical Laboratory Technologists, Nursing, Pharmacy, and Physician Assistants from more than 50 academic institutions in the professional community.
Veterans Service Organizations
The VA New Jersey Health Care System maintains a good working relationship with all of our Veterans Service Organization (VSO) partners. We regularly brief our VSO representatives on changes impacting veterans' health care.
A Stakeholders' Advisory Group (SAG) and Veterans Advisory Council (VAC) have been established, which include stakeholders from a number of veterans groups. Both groups meet monthly.

The VA New Jersey Health Care SYstem is a participant in the US Department of Defense TRICARE Program.
